Expedition Yacht for Sale: A Solid and Efficient Vessel
Fort Lauderdale, United States | Price: $950,000
Looking for an explorer yacht that's as sturdy as they come and easily managed by a small crew? This 75-foot beauty, built by Ocean Voyager in 2021, is on the market for $950,000 and offers a blend of robustness, efficiency, and comfort without the unnecessary frills of modern production vessels.
A Pioneering Design
Naval architect Ulf Rogeberg, known for his original Deerfoot designs, was the mastermind behind this yacht. Rogeberg’s designs are renowned for their canoe-body shape, which offers an easily driven hull form. This design principle means that this yacht can outperform larger vessels with much smaller rigs, making it highly efficient and manageable.
Under the hood, the yacht boasts two 150 HP diesel engines, allowing her to cruise at a comfortable 9.5 knots while burning a mere 3.5 gallons per hour. If you dial it back to eight knots, it can cruise non-stop from the Caribbean to Maine, making her a fantastic option for long-distance voyages.
Interior and Build Quality
Step inside, and you’ll find a bright, open interior finished in the classic Herreshoff style. The combination of mahogany trim and white panels, along with Sisal carpets and large windows, creates a spacious and inviting atmosphere. Generous headroom throughout adds to the sense of space.
The hull and deck are constructed from foam-cored fibreglass, moulded by Lyman-Morse, one of the top composite shipyards in the US. The hull is painted with Awlgrip, known for its durability and long-lasting finish. The yacht's superstructure is a custom aluminium weldment left in its natural state, contributing to the vessel's low-maintenance exterior.
Layout and Accommodations
The arrangement plan is both practical and luxurious. It has five separate cabins, providing ample space for guests and crew. The owner’s quarters are located aft and span the full beam of the yacht. These quarters feature a centreline queen berth, an ensuite head, and a shower.
Forward of the owner's suite are two cabins, each with upper and lower berths, sharing a head compartment that doubles as the day head. Amidship, you'll find upper and lower salons. The upper salon is a bright, open space with a full helm station, ship’s control panels, and a raised dinette. The lower salon includes a galley and an L-shaped dining and lounge area.
Further forward, there are two more cabins, each with an ensuite head and shower, ensuring privacy and comfort for all onboard.
Outdoor Spaces and Features
The yacht’s outdoor spaces are just as well thought out. Aft of the deckhouse is a comfortable cockpit with angled seating protected from the elements. The flybridge, which includes the upper helm station, offers excellent sightlines and can be enclosed and climate-controlled if desired.
