Few yachts so effectively express the union of offshore resilience and intelligent design as this 108-foot sailing yacht, constructed in New Zealand during the early 1990s. With naval architecture by Ed Dubois and construction by a respected yard known for its aluminium craftsmanship, she was conceived as a serious passagemaker from the outset, engineered for both endurance and elegance.

Now, more than thirty years since her launch, she is set to go under the hammer with an opening bid of €1,000,000. For those seeking a high-pedigree, ocean-capable cruiser, this represents a rare and timely opportunity.

A Proven Performer with Transoceanic Range

Built with extended voyaging in mind, this sailing yacht features a hull and superstructure entirely in aluminium; a material choice emblematic of her builder's legacy and a key contributor to her lasting performance. The alloy construction delivers a compelling blend of structural strength and reduced displacement, yielding both responsiveness under sail and excellent range under power. Her reported cruising range stands at approximately 4,000 nautical miles achieved solely on engine power, underscoring her credentials as a global cruiser.

She measures 32.92 metres in length, with a beam of 7.62 metres and a draft of 3.48 metres. Hull form and sail balance, refined by Dubois Naval Architects, deliver capable offshore performance in a variety of conditions. The yacht features a centre cockpit, twin-wheel helm, and a raised saloon configuration, all contributing to safety, visibility, and comfortable handling on long passages.

Refit and Technical Condition

Delivered in 1992, the vessel underwent a major refit in 2022, with further technical upgrades implemented in 2023. A full survey completed in May 2025 confirms her technical and cosmetic condition to be well above average for a yacht of this age. Key upgrades include a fully renewed air-conditioning system and the installation of a 40 kW shore power converter last year.

Propulsion is provided by a Lugger L6140 AL diesel engine, paired with a ZF BW160 gearbox and a single right-handed variable pitch propeller. Engine hours exceed 17,000, yet an independent mechanical inspection judged the installation to be operational and generally well-maintained, noting only standard valve clearance adjustments and minor service items.

Additional onboard systems include bow and stern thrusters for precise low-speed handling, twin Northern Lights 20kW generators, and a suite of redundant systems designed to support extended offshore operations.

Sail Plan and Deck Equipment

The sail wardrobe includes a battened mainsail on an in-boom furling system, a furling genoa, storm jib, gennaker, and a cruising spinnaker. Standing rigging, constructed in aluminium, was fully serviced during the 2023 refit, with no structural issues reported in a subsequent rig survey, only minor cosmetic wear consistent with age.

The deck, laid in teak during a full replacement in 2012, remains in excellent structural and visual condition. A hydraulic boom system and high-capacity hydraulic crane are fitted for tender handling and general deck operations. Aft, transom steps lead to a storage-integrated swim platform and built-in jacuzzi, with large deck lockers providing ample stowage.

Interior Arrangement

The interior layout is designed for liveaboard use and long-distance comfort. A full-beam owner’s suite is positioned aft and includes a private bathroom with sauna. A VIP double cabin sits to port, complemented by a starboard twin cabin convertible to a double. A fourth, multi-use cabin can serve as a nanny cabin, gym, or additional storage space.

The saloon spans two levels: the upper section offering panoramic visibility from the 360-degree skylounge and interior helm, while the lower section houses a formal dining area and lounge. Warm wood finishes dominate the interior, which was found during the 2025 survey to be in excellent condition. Upholstery, cabinetry, and fittings show minimal wear, with several soft goods and fixtures replaced during recent seasons.

Crew accommodations include two cabins for up to five personnel, along with a dedicated crew mess located forward of the galley. Importantly, all crew areas are accessed via independent routes to preserve owner and guest privacy.

Navigation, Electronics and Onboard Systems

The yacht’s navigation suite includes Furuno radar, Garmin GPS, Simrad autopilot, B&G instruments, and a Nobeltec chart plotting system, all confirmed operational during the latest survey. A FLIR thermal camera is integrated for enhanced situational awareness.

Onboard systems for comfort and autonomy include Dometic Marine Air conditioning (12 handlers), a 1,200 GPD watermaker, and four 40-litre Quick hot water boilers. Refrigeration is comprehensive, featuring Sub-Zero fridge/freezer units, bar fridges, and an ice maker.

Connectivity is robust, built around a Starlink system mounted at the mast, with signal routed through a Peplink router for 5G, marina Wi-Fi, and satellite integration.

Safety equipment includes two 10-person life rafts, fire suppression in the engine room, bilge alarm systems, and a full inventory of extinguishers and lifejackets. These were found to be present during survey, though some certification dates may require updating.

A Serious Opportunity for a Capable Platform

This is not a yacht for the marina-bound. With her robust alloy hull, long-range systems, and serious refit pedigree, she offers a capable, self-sufficient platform for those intent on real passagemaking. Whether the ambition is high-latitude exploration or warm-water crossings, she stands out as a proven global cruiser.

Scheduled for online auction between June 25 and July 2, with a starting bid of €1,000,000, this is a genuine chance to secure a substantial, ocean-capable aluminium sailing yacht with a recent survey and solid mechanical condition. For prospective buyers seeking pedigree and potential, she warrants serious consideration.

The yacht is currently lying in Barcelona, Spain, where she remains available for inspection prior to the conclusion of the auction. The sale is being managed by a US-based firm with bidding scheduled to take place online between June 25 and July 2, starting at €1,000,000.
