No Limits: The Ultimate Go-Anywhere Yachts You Need to See!
Steel hulls, serious speed, and built to take on anything—I’m heading to No Limit Ships to put these beasts to the test. Here’s what you need to know…
You lot know by now that I have a serious soft spot for private yachts that look like they mean business. Something about that commercial, pilot-boat aesthetic just does it for me; form following function, no wasted fluff, just raw capability built to handle whatever the sea throws at it.
So, when a subscriber who owns a large trawler yacht tipped me off about ‘No Limit Ships,’ I knew I had to take a closer look. Fast forward a few conversations, and I’m now working on locking in a trip to Europe to film not one, but two of their absolute brutes: the No Limit 16.40 and its slightly smaller sibling, the 15.50.
Now, if you’ve never heard of No Limit Ships before, here’s the deal. These boats are built tough. Think steel hulls with aluminium superstructures (which I know a lot of you absolutely love), CE-A certification for all-weather, go-anywhere cruising, and the kind of high-speed capability you don’t normally expect from something this rugged.
They’ve got that signature collar tube running around the hull, giving them even more stability and that unmistakable, workboat-like stance. Essentially, these things are built to smile in the face of bad weather, but with all the creature comforts to make long-range cruising a joy rather than a mental and physical endurance test.
The No Limit 15.50 – The Compact Powerhouse
The No Limit 15.50 has its roots in the original 1500 model, which quickly got a bit of a stretch to give it more space and better buoyancy. What you end up with is the base model of the No Limit series, but don’t let that fool you into thinking it’s ‘entry-level’ in any way. It’s designed for extended stays aboard, with all the kit you’d expect for serious passagemaking.
The combination of its tube, hull design, and impressive top speed makes it a formidable all-weather yacht, offering both comfort and a feeling of absolute security when the sea kicks off. And if you like to mix it up with some inland cruising, you’re in luck—it’s got a shallow draft and a low air draft, meaning you’re not limited to just open water adventures.
The No Limit 16.40 – Built from Professional Bloodlines
Then there’s the bigger beast! The No Limit 16.40. This one comes straight from the professional side of things, derived from their 16.40 PRO model, which was originally built for commercial applications. That means you’re getting a yacht with some seriously hard-won design credentials.
The 16.40 takes everything great about the 15.50 but ups the ante, offering more interior space, a larger cockpit, and even more flexibility in layout. Whether you’re crossing open seas or slipping through inland waterways, the 16.40 doesn’t flinch. Again, thanks to that combination of hull shape, tube design, and raw power, you’re looking at a yacht that is just as happy smashing through big water as it is tucked up in a calm anchorage for the night.
